Procedure of Dental Extraction

Procedure of Dental Extraction

Before starting the extraction, the dentist will take an X-ray of the person’s
impacted tooth. This X-ray will help in evaluating the curvature and angle of
the tooth’s root. X-ray will help in deciding the extraction will be simple or
surgical extraction. A surgical extraction is more complicated and involves the
removal of gum tissue, or bone.
Local Aesthesia will be given by the doctor to numbed the area which require
extraction. Once the local anesthetic has numbed the area, the surgeon will
begin the extraction.
If the tooth is concealed beneath gum tissue or bone, the doctor may need to
cut away the gum or remove the obstructing area of bone.
Normally the patient shouldn’t feel the pain but they can expect some
pressure against teeth. Patient may feel some cracking of bone or some
different sounds.
If a patient feels pain then dentist needs to numbing agent.
After the extraction, stitches or some additional procedures to control the
bleeding may be necessary, which will be guided by our experienced dentist.
To absorb the blood & start clotting process a thick layer of gauze to be
placed on the site of extraction & patient needs to bite the cotton which helps
in absorbing blood & heeling procedure.
