Dentures are the easiest & cost affordable method of replacement of the
missing tooth, but at the same time its tedious & uncomfortable to person. A
denture is a removable replacement for missing tooth and surrounding
tissues. Two types of dentures are widely used i.e. complete and partial
dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while
partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Dentures will do all
the work as same done by the normal human tooth. Dentures help in
improving the aesthetic teeth appearance.
Partial denture:
Partial denture or bridges are usually consisting of replacement tooth attached
to a gum-colored base, which may be connected by metal framework that holds
the denture in place in the mouth.
Partial dentures are used only when one or more natural tooth remain in the
upper or lower jaw. A fixed bridge replaces one or more teeth by placing crowns
on the teeth on either side of the space and attaching artificial teeth to them.
Partial dentures fill the spaces of missing tooth & same time it provides the
support for adjacent tooth also which prevents other tooth from changing
position. Partial denture gives the natural-looking tooth.
Complete denture:
Complete dentures (Sometimes called full denture) are advised to the patients
when all the teeth are missing. It’s a removable device that can be used to
replace missing teeth and used by someone who has lost all of their teeth. It
is amazing that these complete dentures are supported by underlying bone,
gums and soft tissues rather than other teeth, as all of them are missing.
Complete denture gives the natural-looking tooth. Aesthetically no difference
between the natural looking teeth & complete denture.
